Prior to becoming Catholic, I would walk into cathedrals around the world, like they were art museums. I never really asked myself, “What is the purpose of this space?” “What goes on here?” “Why was this built?” Instead, I would walk around snapping photos, comparing one church to another and which one I thought was the most beautiful.
