An article by Deacon Lawrence discusses one of his art prints which depicts Saint Mary Magdalene with a bright red egg. The story was new to me. Tradition has it that upon meeting Tiberius Caesar, Mary Magdalene presented him with a gift of a white egg and announced that Jesus had risen. Caesar did not believe Mary and thought her story was as possible as the white egg turning red. In that moment the egg turned red before his very eyes.
“Christ is risen,” she said again. “New life rising from a sealed tomb, just as new life rises from a sealed egg.”
This gives a whole new meaning to Easter eggs!
